Video was captured from saildrone SD 1083 in the Gulf of Mexico on September 26, 2024 from approximately 20 miles from the center of Hurricane Helene.  The saildrone reported wave height of 9.06 m and wind gusts of 71.82 kn.

Then on October 9, 2024 saildrone SD-1083 was 40 nautical miles from the center of the storm.  The saildrone reported maximum significant wave height of 28.12 feet (8.57m), and wind gusts as strong as 75.95 mph (66kts).
