State of Science 2021

The St. Petersburg Innovation District hosted the 4th annual State of Science.  This year’s event began with a look back by the Innovation District Board Members at the progress the District has made since its formation five years ago.  The program then quickly moved into five fast-paced, six-minute presentations from the innovators.  This year's theme was Tackling Critical Problems in St. Petersburg that have National and International Implications.

The presenters were:

Dr. Steve Murawski, USF College of Marine Science: Leading the Way in Ocean Mapping Technology

Esteban Orte, Duke Energy: Changing the Future of Power Transmission

Dr. Sean Doody, USF College of Arts and Sciences: Tracking Wildlife and Spread of Diseases Like COVID

Lorraine Parker, Bayfront Health St. Petersburg: Training the Military’s Elite to Save Lives

Dr. Geoffrey Gray, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital: Understanding the Impact of COVID on Pediatric Transplants

This event was in person and virtual.
