Join us for the 3rd annual State of Science

The St. Petersburg Innovation District is hosting our annual event to showcase innovators and their stories.  This year we will highlight the intersections between science, technology, engineering, and art. The event will be kicked off by Janet Echelman, an internationally recognized artist originally from Tampa, whose work highlights the intersection of sculpture, architecture, engineering and technology.  Her work "Bending Arc" is featured at the new St. Petersburg Pier: https://stpetepier.org/bending-arc/.

Ms. Echelman will be followed by a series of fast-paced, brief presentations by local innovators that highlight their cross-discipline projects.  These individuals are leaders in their fields worldwide but are often unknown locally. They are working to solve childhood illnesses, maintain the oceans, and develop new technology.  The featured speakers represent organizations including Poynter Institute, the University of South Florida College of Marine Science, the University of South Florida College of Arts & Sciences, and Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.

This event is modeled after the City of St Pete’s annual State of the City and State of the Economy.  It has sold out the previous two years.  Be sure to reserve your ticket. Both science-geeks and those whose skills peaked when figuring out their smart phone will enjoy this event. You will learn something new about St. Petersburg.
