Celebrating a Decade of Innovation

This year marks a milestone moment for the St. Pete Innovation District: ten years (2016-2026) of ideas, partnerships, and progress that have helped shape the future of our city.

What began as a bold vision—to create a place where research, talent, entrepreneurship, and community intersect—has grown into a nationally recognized district that fuels discovery, drives economic growth, and improves quality of life in St. Petersburg. Over the past decade, the Innovation District has become a living laboratory for what’s possible when institutions, startups, and residents come together with a shared purpose.

At the heart of the District are world-class education, industry and government partners advancing breakthroughs in marine science, life sciences, national security, and technology/data. These organizations have attracted talent, expanded research capacity, and translated science and technology solutions into real-world impact.

Equally important has been the District’s role as a convener. Through programs like the State of Science, St. Pete Science Festival and Morning Sparks, the District has created opportunities for people to connect, learn, and imagine what’s next. These gatherings spark new ideas, build relationships, and inspire the next generation of innovators.

As we celebrate this 10th anniversary, we do so with gratitude—for the partners who believed in the vision, the leaders who helped bring it to life, and the community members who continue to shape it every day. This milestone is not just a reflection of the past ten years, but a launching point for the next decade of impact.
