The City of St. Petersburg invited students from Pinellas County Schools to go behind the scenes of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg (partially held in the Innovation District).  Students from Bay Point Middle School, John Hopkins Middle School, and the City's Cohort of Champions had opportunities for hands-on learning to better understand the connection between STEM concepts and racing. To quote Mayor Welch "Opportunities for youth are aplenty - here's to our future track builders, mechanics, pit crew members, racing engineers, event promoters, drivers, and team owners!"
