The Innovation District hosts a quarterly breakfast series called Morning Sparks: Innovation X-change. At each session we explore emerging technologies, invite District partners to share their current related efforts, and engage in thoughtful (and hopefully spirited) discussions that will spark future innovation.
Our Topic
This quarter the breakfast will focus on "GIS - Geographic Information System." You might have heard of this technology in the context of maps. But what else can it do? What are the emerging ideas that could impact our lives?
Why Are We Doing This?
Technology is rapidly evolving in ways we are all grappling to understand and embrace. These advances may change the way we operate our businesses, receive services, or think about our built environment. As a partner of the Innovation District, you play a unique role for our community - exploring and harnessing the potential of these advancements.
What Can You Expect?
We will begin the X-change with a brief presentation. In the style of our annual State of Science and our monthly Hub Tech X-changes, this presentation will be short and thought provoking. Then we will turn the discussion over to the audience. Together, we will explore how our District partners could embrace the technology, the implications for the future, and our next steps.
We are a little more than a month away from an exciting Morning Sparks where we will explore our role as one of the largest innovation districts globally! Expect to learn new information on how we plan to drive greater regional economic growth and competition, act as catalysts for economic opportunities in neighboring communities, and strategically position our district for growth in competitive and sustainable ways. This will be the first SPID event held at ARK Innovation Center, so mark your calendar for Friday, August 1st.
What's next for launching rockets into space? Launching rockets from the sea. With limited land availability and significant costs, companies like Seagate Space see a game-changing solution in developing offshore launchpads. There is also a sense of urgency as other countries have included offshore infrastructure as part of their space strategy. Seagate Space and The Spaceport Company are positioned to lead the way for Florida in this new frontier.
Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is more than just helicopters or planes; it’s the future of transportation. St. Petersburg is looking ahead into electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft that can perform tasks beyond the capabilities of traditional aviation. Think faster disaster relief response, private air taxis, and much more.
