State of Science 2019

The St. Petersburg Innovation District, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, and USF St. Petersburg partnered to host the 2nd Annual State of Science in St. Petersburg.

This special event was kicked off by Deputy Mayor Kanika Tomalin and Innovation District Board President Dr. Martin Tadlock. Then eight innovators showcased their stories in a series of fast-paced, brief presentations.   This year's theme was STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math).

 

The speakers were:

·        Dr. Tiffany Chenneville, USF St. Petersburg: HIV-related Stigma Among Youth

·        Mr. RJ Garbowicz, Webtalk: Technology Entrepreneurship Building a Search Engine

·        Dr. Raquel Hernandez, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital: Pediatric Obesity

·        Dr. Hank Hine, The Dali Museum:  Artificial Intelligence and Art

·        Dr. Chuanmin Hu, USF College of Marine Science: Brown Algae/Brown Tides

·        Dr. Masa Komatsu, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital: Study of Tumor Microenvironment

·        Cesar Morales, Aveshka: Technology and Data Analytics for National Security

·        Rob O’Brien, National Forensic Science Technology Center: Rapid DNA Analysis
