Two Powerhouses Collaborate on Seafloor Mapping

Innovation thrives when big ideas come together in shared spaces. We are excited to highlight a new public-private partnership between Saildrone, one of our valued tenants, and the USF College of Marine Science, one of our longtime partners. Together, they are tackling the challenge of seafloor mapping.

This collaboration enables USF gliders and Saildrone uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs) to collect sound speed data simultaneously, providing more accurate measurements and deeper insights for oceanographic research. Researchers like Catalina Rubiano, a USF College of Marine Science graduate now working at the Hub, are instrumental in these efforts, demonstrating the strength of talent cultivated within our community.

This partnership exemplifies what we strive for: big ideas in a shared space, where public and private innovators come together to solve complex challenges. Seafloor mapping is part of a larger effort that benefits the entire state. Read more here.
