SubUAS

World’s First Air-to-Underwater Drone

The Naviator, developed by SubUAS, is a hybrid autonomous vehicle that can fly, land on water, submerge, operate underwater, and return to flight without requiring separate systems. Originally developed through research at Rutgers University, the platform is designed for defense, offshore energy, infrastructure inspection, environmental monitoring, and maritime reconnaissance missions. Its ability to carry sonar, imaging, infrared, and AI-enabled payloads allows operators to perform aerial and underwater data collection in a single deployment. The technology has received multiple Department of Defense contracts, earned a 2020 Tibbetts Award, and was recognized with the 2025 Innovation Vanguard Award for advancing multi-domain unmanned systems.
