I’m excited for our upcoming season of Innovation in the 'Burg, the St. Pete Innovation District podcast. In this series, we're taking listeners inside each of the District's six pillars—Marine Science, Life Science, Data & Technology, Entrepreneurship, Education, and the Arts—through conversations with remarkable local leaders. Each episode explores how these sectors connect to create something greater – across our region, state, nation and even outer space.
Our guests this season are:
• Chris Stott of Lonestar Lunar
• Christine Wooley of Eckerd College
• Erin O’Toole of Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital
• Hank Hine of The Dali Museum
• Linda Olson of Tampa Bay Wave
• Michael Kahle of Florida Institute of Oceanography
One of my favorite parts of hosting these conversations has been discovering how innovators think. So often their deep expertise leads to answers for questions we never even considered. Questions like “How does space law impact the storage of data in orbit?, How do you reopen our critical ports in Tampa Bay quickly and safely after hurricanes?, How can technology like AI or virtual reality enhance our perspective of art?”
I also came away with an even greater appreciation for what makes the St. Pete Innovation District so special. Few places in the country have this concentration of research institutions, hospitals, entrepreneurs, educators, artists, and technology leaders working within just a few square miles. That proximity isn't just convenient, it's our competitive advantage, creating opportunities for ideas to move faster from inspiration to impact.
We can't wait to share these conversations with you. Join us for our next season of Innovation in the 'Burg. You can find new episodes posted to our website and Youtube.
