The team at Johns Hopkins All Children's Center for Pediatric Data Science and Analytics Methodology continue to find unique ways to use data to improve health of children. This is no surprise to anyone who has attended past District State of Science events. They constantly wow us!Recently, they presented three such projects at an international conference. One project uses natural language processing and artificial intelligence to "make sense" of medical notes in a health record to understand patient's residential instability, food insecurity and transportation needs. The Emergency Nurses Association’s (ENA) Lantern Award recognizes leadership, practice, education, and advocacy leading to an increase in patient care and staff well-being. Less than 2% of hospitals worldwide are selected and Orlando Health Bayfront is the only recipient in Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties. This award is on display in the emergency department and the hospital will be honored at the ENA annual conference in New Orleans in September.
